Local Landmen Host Successful Crawfish Boil Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen (LAPL) hosted a fundraising crawfish boil recently. With over 300 people in attendance, they boiled more than 1,600 pounds of crawfish, 100 pounds of potatoes, and 300 corn cobs! MPCS is thankful to be one of the beneficiaries of the evening's proceeds.

Good times at the UL Ballgame!
Clients and their families enjoyed pizza, soft drinks, and desserts before watching the close game between Rice and UL. Three clients also demonstrated strong arms when throwing out the first pitch of the game. A solo home run in the 8th inning provided the winning run for Rice in a 2-1 victory. School Year Volunteers 6th grade students from Sts. Leo-Seton Catholic School have faithfully worked each month throughout the school year on small projects at MPCS. This week, students are putting together Patient Navigation Notebooks which help clients keep track of doctor appointments, doctor notes, and other details.

Breaking Records at the Break-A-Thon Acadiana Karate hosted the 6th annual Kicks for Miles Break-A-Thon where karate students sold and broke over 8,000 boards! All board proceeds benefit MPCS. Totals coming soon!

Miles for Miles Team Sweats for a good cause The 25+ Miles for Miles team walked, jogged, and ran with nearly 9,000 others in Girard Park and the surrounding area to raise money for the Komen Acadiana Race for the Cure. Since 2003, Komen Acadiana has granted $277,000 to MPCS to fund breast cancer programs and services. |

New Show Premieres and Donates to MPCS Fox 15 and Potenza teamed up to create a new TV show, Lafayette Exposed, which highlights the best in entertainment and style. MPCS benefited from a portion of bar sales at the Premiere Party.

Gator Fans Support MPCS
The LA IceGators beat the Pensacola Ice Flyers on Feb 11th then rallied the fans for a pink jersey auction that benefited MPCS. They recently presented a $1,000 check to MPCS. Thank you, Gator Fans!

Links des Pink Donates to MPCS Breast Cancer Awareness Group hosts year round events
This Vermilion parish group maintained an active fundraising schedule in 2010 by hosting the Links des PINK Golf Tournament, Bosom Buddies Ladies Night Out, Painting with a Twist & Art for a Cure, and more. The annual Merrill Lynch Running of the Bulls Charity Race benefited MPCS this past April. Thank you to all the participants who helped raise $6,000 for MPCS. Your participation helps local families fighting cancer all over Acadiana.

Mystery Donor Haitian woman receives GOA shirt in hospital
Megan Boudreaux, who runs a nonprofit in Haiti, discovered a Haitian woman wearing a red Games of Acadiana logo t-shirt. With delight over this small taste of home, she found out that the woman received the shirt from someone at a Dominican Republic hospital after the earthquakes.
